Hi! I’m C.
The Whitty Pear is where I keep track of my crafting projects, the books I read, the places I visit, and the recipes I make. Oh, and Life more generally.
Recipes are often adapted from Delia Smith’s Cakes, or from the Hummingbird Bakery recipe books. Any other recipes or adaptations will be noted with the recipe.
What is a Whitty Pear?
Well, it’s an alternative name for the rowan tree, specifically forΒ Sorbus domestica, and the rowan is considered in folklore to be the ‘wayfarer’s tree’, preventing travellers from getting lost, or of being a ‘portal’ tree, standing between here and there (either this world and another world, or where you are now and where you are going).
Hopefully it’ll keep me from getting lost along the way!
I just came upon your blog, and since I am a cross-stitcher I just had to check it out. I have to say that you say you have very little discipline. I don’t quite believe you because I don’t think you would every complete a cross-stitch project with no discipline! I will enjoy reading more of your blog.

I never had any before I started cross-stitching, and I don’t have much for most other things. Just something magical about cross-stitching! I’m glad you like my blog; thank you! π

Happy to have found you Ce. It was the header that drew me in. Pens, needles, tea and cake! Why think twice! π
